Stylish Parisians: Clémence Poésy

Since the time I first saw Clémence Poésy on the big screen in the film In Bruges, I've admired her for her natural, cool-girl style. A talented actress and fashion model that has worked the circuit on both sides of the Atlantic, one thing's for sure: Clémence has not lost sight of her Parisian roots. Whether she is posing for the paparazzi in a Chanel couture gown, stepping out to grab some groceries, or attending a major premiere, Poésy's look is always effortless. Her ensembles are at once classic and playful, her make-up, kept to a minimum, and her tresses, tousled to perfection. The result? The quintessence of Parisian chic.

It's been a busy week, but there's nothing like a good ol' dose of Parisian fashion-sense to keep me inspired! Now, if only I could find a jacket similar to that dreamy gold Balmain blazer...

The Pedro

Alright. So before I reveal which Jérôme Dreyfuss bag I walked away with on that lovely day in Paris, I thought I would share with you this rad little picture I snapped of my own personal arm party (à la man repeller). Ultimately, the product of my sheer boredom in Journalism class this afternoon... but hey, I thought it was a cool photo.

Okay, now on to the important stuff. Of all the lovely bags Monsieur Dreyfuss had to offer, I just couldn't resist the Pedro in hazelnut. Not only is it the perfect size, but it also has these great zippers along the sides that allow the bag to expand. This may not seem like an important function to you, but it means I can lug my books and laptop around... in style. The zipper compartment in the front is just another added bonus - I can throw my keys, pens, and other small necessities in there, saving me the hassle of looking like Mary Poppins digging around for that dang tube of chapstick.

I love when you think you know exactly what you want, and then, you find something even better. It happens all too rarely, but when it does... c'est magnifique!

Label to Love: Jérôme Dreyfuss

On my last trip to Paris in August, I was on a serious hunt for a new bag. As with any big purchase, I had given the bag-to-be some major thought and believed I knew exactly what I wanted: something black, big enough to throw my books in, and versatile in a classic shape I would not get sick of. And so, the hunt began... I browsed through the big department stores like Printemps and Le Bon Marché, I searched online, I even looked to les parisiennes for some inspiration.

Despite all my efforts, two and a half weeks later it was my last day in Paris and I was still empty handed. Luckily, I had some last-minute errands to run... think Ladurée, the French pharmacy, and one final walk-through at Isabel Marant... which took me to Rue Jacob, a beautiful and quiet little street in the 7e arrondissement. There, I stumbled across the Jérôme Dreyfuss boutique... or, as I came to know it, handbag heaven. And while I can't actually share that blissful experience with you (so sad, I know), here's a little slice of that heaven...

Igor in hazelnut lambskin / Twee in mustard goatskin / Momo in green python

Carlos in bordeaux python / Billy in leopard print leather

Paul in black python / Popoche in tweed lambskin

With over 15 styles and nearly as many color and material options to choose from, the French get it right once again! Five strolls around the boutique, a short discussion with the friendly sales associate, and twenty minutes later, I was sold. Well, more accurately, the bag was sold for I had found le sac parfait!

So... you're probably wondering which of the lovely gems above I chose? Well, it's not pictured. But not to worry my friends! Detailed photos to come of the lovely Jérôme Dreyfuss in the flesh.

In the meantime, you can tide over your handbag fantasies by drooling over their beautiful website or shop online at Barneys, Hampden Clothing, or Net-A-Porter.

Happy Friday et à bientôt!

Stylish Parisians: Emmanuelle Alt

As editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris, it's no wonder Emmanuelle Alt has some serious style up her sleeve. A true master of the simple, coolgirl Parisian look, Emmanuelle knows just how to mix tailored, clean classics with trendier pieces to create a balanced look that is both sleek and edgy. I love her consistent use of a simple color palette as well as her affinity for Isabel Marant, an all-time favorite french label of mine.

Oh la laa... all this serious style has me dreaming up some major Fall/Winter wishlists... soon to come!

Introductions

Hello friends!

Welcome to C'est Très Chic - my first blog where I will be jotting down all my many thoughts on fashion and Paris. For those of you who know me, this is obvious because a) I spent 4 months studying there last fall, and b) it's pretty much all I talk about (if I'm not just flat out speaking in french already). That's right, I have the Paris bug. And, while I hope to be moving there next summer, I still have an entire year in America. Until then, this will be where I share with you all the things that I love about that wonderful city... and, don't forget, the fabulous people that crowd its streets in their closet's very best.

I've always loved clothes (a little too much as my sister will tell you), but after spending time in Paris, a new appreciation for fashion was born. Les Parisiens don't just dress well, they dress for themselves, for eachother, for the art, and for the city! And hey, who can blame them... You'd have to with all those beautiful Haussmann buildings, perfectly groomed parks, and impressive boulevards as your everyday backdrop. Ahhhh and just to think - one day they will be mine, too!

With Fall just around the corner and la rentrée now in full swing, I leave you with a photo that I took around this time last year in Paris.

Just some Parisians I admired at Places Des Vosges attempting to soak up the last of the summer's sun. How I wish I could go back and wander around the Marais, grab a delicious felafel from L'as du Felafel, and shop around on a Sunday.
